Fractalforums.com
Annual Fractal Art Competition 2013
Rules Announcement

Fractalforums.com is holding the 6th annual fractal art contest in 2013.
Prizes are as every year winning images printed on coffe cups.

This is the link to the gallery section:
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;cat=76

Official Sponsor for this years contest is the "Center of Transition Sciences (CTS)", a part from the
Metropolitan University, Mexico (UAM). The "Axolotl" section is dedicated to this sponsor, any entry
for the "Axolotl" Section may be choosen by a jury of their own as candidate for a "Transition Science Logo",
this happens completely outside the competition a winner is not automatically selected by their jury.
Anything regarding the Logo selection is subject to the specific Image owner and the University officials.

Time Schedule
- Submission Period begins on 1st of May at 00:00 Central European Time
- Submission Period ends on 31st of May at 23:59:59 Central European Time
- Voting Period begins on 1st of June at 00:00:00 Central European Time
- Voting Period ends on 30st of June at 23:59:59 Central European Time

Rules:

As every year, a contributor may enter up to 3 entries in each section of the competition,
so every contributor may enter up to 9 competition entries.

The Competition is (as always) splitted up into 3 sections, which are this year "Film","Still Frame" and
as varying section we have this year the "Axolotl" section.

It is desirable to publish "new" stuff in the contest, do not bore us with already known stuff. Anything
already competing in another contest, or somehow already known to a wider public is unwanted. The
administration team for the contest ( ckleinhuis ) is strictly not excluding anything from the contest
so it is up to you to either bore us to death or come up with inspiring new work. It would be to hard
to verify every entry by hand, so nothing will be disqualified, but keep in mind that something already
known wont get any votes ...

The whole voting and submission is done in the gallery, since the gallery can not handle all the media
formats, especially the videos. videos are uploaded to an external site, and entered in the gallery with
a corresponding image, in the description of the image a youtube/vimeo/whatever link is automatically
replaced by the embedding code. do not post in the board - though, posting should not be allowed there
by the forums software.

and here comes the section description:

- Film

in the film section minimum 5 minute long fractal videos are accepted. Let your creativity flow,
Use Voxel Stack exports to bring the Fractals into your favorite 3D Program. Use a camera tracker
to place Fractal Objects in real film recordings. Create a stunning soundtrack that is perfectly
syncronised to the film. Your creative mind might need an extension for this.
This is the champions league of fractal art!

The film section now requires that you include the following text in the intro/outro of your production:
"Fractalforums.com Annual Fractal Art Competition 2013"
this is for specially recognising it as competition entry, and additionally it serves the secondary purpose
to stretch your movie slightly to fit into the 5 minute mark!

Regarding developments in the recent years, why not include greetings?
throughout the year the admiration for realtime demo scene popped up,
and they do greet eachother belonging to their scene, why dont we give it a try this year
sending greetings to eachother in this little scene? this is not necessary, but perhaps a really nice feature ...

- Still Frame

the still frame section allows submission of any image without any restrictions, photography,
layering, post works, painting. Express your feelings through an image. Attentuate Details, make
use of modern image editing software to get the last out of your image. Single Click and render images
might not be enough to become even recognised this year! Let your mind flow to create something new!

- Axolotl

The Axolotl is an remarkable animal. It is native to the mexican area of xochimilco. The deep cultural
dependencies make this a real hard task, to resemble something equally cultural appealing as well as
artistical appealing. The animal has some interesting properties, first worth mentioning is that it can
stay juvenile or grow up into adulthood, second is that each organ or extremity can grow back after an
injury. This section is dedicated to this years sponsor. May it be an abstract resemblance or a detailed
reproduction anything may be entered here, let your creativity flow in this section as well.

Please refer to the wikipedia description of this animal here:
