hi there, i am thinking about how to get the merchandise machinery started, by reading through the orbittrap.ca page, i spotted
the "fractal universe calendar"!

funny is the web adress: http://www.fractalforum.com/

and the first thought when i browsed through the images was: "WHAT ? just plain but nice 2d plots ? WHY IS THERE NO 3d Fractal Calendar ?"

so, when browsing through the gallery we have plenty of candidates for a calendar issue ....

when it comes to producing/sending managing this all, i would like to get a calendar up and runnin in a few weeks ( preferabily before december )
i would try to print a low marge ( e.g. 25 issues ) , send them all to me, and i would manage the sending and billing for those calendars

i dunno what the costs would be, but the first question is: is anyone here in the forums interested in buying such a calendar ? e.g. as christmas present?

Just an idea, but to save you the trouble of investing money up front, you could have a calendar contest, then use the winning images to create a calendar that members could order off of CafePress(?).

Yes  grin I would buy a calendar (and pay the extra postage to get it sent overseas) if its all the new 3d stuff.
I don't mind if you just pick the images yourself, I bet it will beat the fractal universe calendar hands down!
I hope the creators of the images are kind enough to let you use them.

Great idea.

IMHO, a contest can be created. Minimum required resolution may be fixed (like 6000 x 9000). Images can be listed in a thread for voting. First 12 fractals having highest votes can be selected for printing.

As much as I would love it, I would rather save for a new Mac.

There are so many in the Gallery, it would be difficult to narrow it down to just 13  (12 months, and a cover)  (maybe 14 if you use a different back cover!).

But I'd definitely consider it.  I'll bet postage would be expensive all around the world, but where else would we get such a thing?

Any idea on rough pricing, and approximate shipping costs to various countries?

I would buy one, but I think it would be more practical to get a 2012 calendar. I'm going off to college next year and would love to have one.

Nice collection!  The artists at FF both humble and inspire me.
