i am wondering since the first fractal face i saw exploring the fractal world, they always look kinda angered, angry or scared, sometimes i really was flashed when i relized that i was looked at by a face staring at me from the fractal browser, as a starter here some of my first findings:

the "albert K" fractal, is a hybrid fractal i found in late 90s it is also available as ultrafractal formula, it is a combination of a "mandelbrot, phoenix" formula:
http://trifox77.deviantart.com/art/Albert-K-48007505?q=gallery%3Atrifox77%2F19538019&qo=7

my user image is a variant of this formula as well wink

the faceman is an really old buddy:
http://trifox77.deviantart.com/art/Faceman-Alternating-Fractal-48007362?q=gallery%3Atrifox77%2F19538019&qo=6

a little "funnier" but in my view more "nasty" and "army" heavy than funny, somehow lookin like a soldier with an helmet
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=10

something that really looks like a face, but more like wolve is this one, made with mutatorkammer, dynamically created fractal formula, formula lost ( i believe )

http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=9

the newton fractal as a hybrid member always leads to (skull-)face like structures wink

And when i browse the internet and the gallery i find more and more images resembling face-like structurs

for example:

"The Scream" by Samuel Monnier
http://www.algorithmic-worlds.net/blog/blog.php?Post=20110217

here is one recently uploaded to the gallery  by kali:
http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=6630

if that is not scary i dont know, and this leads me to the question, is that a general behaviour to produce konkave-structures (mouth) konvex-structures(eyes,nose) in a manner that the konkave structure somehow leads to drastic results, all the images are somehow fascinating, but i would love to see something really friendly and nice looking out of these structures, something that i can put on my entrance wall cheesy
so, i would like to call for:

HAPPY FRACTAL FACES

Why that, you can get really funny things with fractals too. I think it's not easy to accomplish with any fractal program other than UF, but still...

Have a look at this: http://paddlin-maddlin.deviantart.com/art/Face-to-Face-204104840

textures or orbit traps do not count as fractal images wink
its hard to describe what i mean, but ...

Then you shouldn't consider Mandelbulbs either... unless you mean you're refusing anything beyond the single layer fractal threshold. I bet it's difficult to get funny faces with simple fractal structure, instead of fractal art. But life is like that too. It's easy to be sad for something, whereas happiness requires effort and hard work. ;P

UNLESS it's a texture of Lissa in an orbit trap!

Then it's a fractal because She says so.

Trust me;  If Lissa says so, it becomes True  (even if I have to burn every book with the now-wrong definitions and re-write them all myself!).

Its all in the Orientation, and how we perceive things. Turn them 45, or 180 degrees and its no longer an issue. Its not unlike the icons which are supposed to denote   wink versus angry

I never find it hard to be happy. Its all in how one looks at life. Personally speaking: The older I get the happier I am becoming. I have transferred that energy, many times to total strangers, who ask me, "why are you so happy?" Before you know it they also feel better about themselves.

cheers!

BOO!

Mutatorkammer made this a long time ago:

And a Chaoscope Self-Portrait:

The closest I ever came to a full humanoid body, titled Man Wearing A Fez

This one always looked happy to me:

So much so that I made it into this:

See if you can guess whose eyes I used...

...

And just because it doesn't count:

What about a fragment of an abandoned project that will not be finished in time for the competition?

<a href="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=22312781&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=01AAEA" target="_blank">http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=22312781&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;fullscreen=1&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=0&amp;color=01AAEA</a>

Just a little bit of post production involved, I guess...

I can't answer your question, Christian, but I can make some more contributions:

This is an evil formula of mine (with a variation of it I made my current profile image, and the one I used before):

z=(-4/c)^z+1/c

I found that most variations using c^z in some way, makes evil things  evil

Here is my old profile picture:

I lost parameters for these! (the bottom part is another layer)

But, as we have a lady participating in this thread, I made something she would like a little more...
also to show that not all is evil in the fractal world   wink

(it's an hybrid made of a complex-power formula and a regular Mandelbrot)

Welcome to FF, Alice  A Beer Cup

Same way as last year's contest entry   afro

There's an old program called 3D Me Now, meant to make photographs talk.  But it works on any still image, even fractals!  (I once got very interesting results using just a plain black square, and giving it the same treatment!).

Oh I didn't understood that you wanted happy faces, sorry!  embarrass

I was just testing Luca's implementation of Ducks formula into Mandelbulb 3D, and found this sort of happy chicken!  cheesy cheesy cheesy
