How much do you feel it is actually influencing this trend (flavor of the month) grin  of creating buddha type images?

i never seen a buddha in the buddhabrot and i'm not looking for it smiley
My very own opinion : "i don't care about buddhism" (or any kind of religion, tbh)

I have actually wondered what would happen if one let a Bhuddabrot render for 49 days under a pipal tree  afro

It would touch the ground and the earth would shake beneath it as a witness to its accomplishment.

I don't think Buddhism has anything to do with it.  The buzz seems to have picked up after I posted my "Under the Bodhi Tree" video (http://www.fractalforums.com/movies-showcase-(rate-my-movie)/detailed-buddhabrot-exploration/)  and Infinity Fields images (http://www.fractalforums.com/images-showcase-(rate-my-fractal)/the-infinity-fields-(detailed-buddhabrot-zoom)/)   I think until recently there wasn't much innovation or creativity being applied to this particular fractal.

Clearly with you guys it has nothing to do with spirituality.  Then what is the attraction?  I mean some here are despiritely trying to grab claim to fame for re-inventing?  creating the bestest Buddhabrot ever!  Sockratease may have it with the curiosity of rendering time..  BTW aluminumstudios your video was brilliant!  But even previously I have read in threads of egos running amuck with this.  I  am spiritual but abhore organized religions.  Ijn the buddha type images I see introspect.  Connecting with my inner Buddha-vista!  ohhhmm

i focus on buddhdabrot since months, but the shiny mandelbox software (forgot its name, mandelbulber ?) disctracted my attention.
Your infinity filed reattracted me to the buddhabrot as i had to try (challenge!) to do something better (or at least "as good") than your smiley

I created the buddhabrot on gpu thread, posted tons of buddhabrot, and so on smiley

Buddhabrot deserve some attention, there is a lot of potential innovation now that we have "fast" rendering with GPU smiley

nope.

technical innovation, challenge, and some eyes pleasure smiley

don't care about fame. Peer recognition is always nice, of course, but it's not a goal.

can't exist.

Sockratease may have it with the curiosity of rendering time..

less rendering time mean that we can add more feature, iterate more, zoom deeper
Beeing the fastest at rendering a borring B&W full buddhabrot at low iteration is not a goal in itself.
The faster your code is, the more you can do. And THAT is interesting smiley

But even previously I have read in threads of egos running amuck with this.

Usually because of misinterpreted post/topic.
I do not think anyone care about being THE master of ... anything.
And even if some people does... well... i don't care.

I'm helped (directly or indirectly) by many people. I publish source code in return so someone else can use my work to do something "better" (whatever the definition of "better" is) than my own work.

i take freely, i give freely.

My 2cts of philosphy.

Sockratease may have it with the curiosity of rendering time.

Like my namesake, I question everything and believe nothing.

Spirituality is a fun distraction, but not a way of life for me.  Thus I knew enough to make a joke relevant to the Buddha, but I vehemently disagree with any assertions that the Bhuddhabrot has any connection to anything even remotely related to Buddhism!

It's just a fractal.

I hate to say it, but I don't even think the popular image people see in it is as distinct as folks claim.  In fact, I think it's a bit of a stretch - but it's an aesthetically pleasing one  -  so I don't object to it   afro

All well said!  (sorry not gonna go thru the details of individual quotes!)   I do like the triangle (body, mind, spirit)   But then that's the basic mandelbrot.  Also some things  become THE  "flavor of the month" because I for one get ideas from all of you.

"flavor of the month" was sarcasm. smiley
I love the Digital, fractal Buddhas, they are pretty and intriguing.  Plus I love Indian art of all their Buddhas.  Shiva is my favorite!

I have noticed the rise of the budda, it was strange, after watching the anim "Under the Bodhi Tree" (which I thought was amazing by the way) It felt like I was seeing more of them than usual and then i heard news of a new PS plug in to explore it. I cant afford photoshop so will not get to try it out but my eyes welcome the images and anims of buddabrots when they see them, and they are a perfect contrast to the new raft of 3D crispness that is being generated - Plus they make awesome backdrops........... I have no clue how to render one. er.... does anyone fancy a collab? by supplying me with a buddabrot backdrop for my next 3D anim?  cheesy free links smiley

I actually live in Japan, and travel around Asia a lot.  I'm not Buddhist, but I really love visiting Buddhist temples and the art found at them.  While not "spiritual" I find the images and idea of Buddha compelling.  Buddhist art varies extremely between Asian countries, but you do find common threads.

In addition to and beyond that however, I like the Buddhabrot style of rendering because it reveals a new dimension to the Mandelbrot set, or whatever other equation you might examine.  While the 3D fractals are nice, with Buddhabrots, I feel like what I am seeing is closer to the underlying math and principles involved because their rendering is in a way an accumulation of numbers.  In my mind the 3D fractals are one step abstracted from the math by the decisions and processes that have to be made in the raytracing to visualize them (not that Buddhabrot's don't involve a lot of arbitrary decisions on the part of the artist.)  Please not I mean no disrespect to the amazing 3D work being done.

A collab sounds interesting, feel free to msg me if you'd like some kind of Buddha backdrop image and we can talk about it :-)
