Did you know you can obtain your original palette used in XX Reactor Core and related images? Just click the Palette button in the upper toolbar and choose "stardust4ever" from the presets. Color density and offset may also have to be adjusted.
Yeah, I did notice that, thanks. I really need a way to tweak the palettes though. Sometime the hard contrasted edges can mask fine details depending on the gamma settings of the display. For my "Magnum Opus Ex" render, I extended the blues a bit to offset the yellows, oranges, and reds found in the center detail area. This put more emphasis on the warm features in the center while creating the illusion of slightly less dense bands in the outer blue areas than what actually exists.
The "more blues" palette used for my Magnum Opus render is actually something closer to:
(0,0,0) black
(255,0,0) red
(255,255,0) yellow
(255,255,255) white
*(128,255,255) light cyan
(0,255,255) cyan
*(0,128,255) baby blue
(0,0,255) royal blue
*(0,0,128) Navy Blue
and back to black.
* = intermediate values (Fractal Extreme lets you adjust the break points, so I spaced the blues twice as far apart dividing the pallet into ninths. For programs that use equal spacing for all colors, you need to add the intermediate values in.
I later modified the original Fractal Extreme palette to something I call "Hot Cold Subtle Changes" where the red, green and blue color channels are shifted so that they blend more gradually. The red color channel is pushed back a bit whereas the blue color channel is pushed forward. This is easy to do in Fractal Extreme because you can drag the little break points around individually for each color channel, rather than create a set of evenly spaced preset colors. I have used "Subtle Changes" pallet for most of my later Mandelbrot renders and zoom videos. Black became in reality an extremely dark purple and the white was actually a very feint light green. The "Subtle changes" palette can be seen in some of my later Mandelbrot renders. Subtle changes has greater color saturation than the default caramel/sky blue color scheme used in the default Mandel Machine minus the hard contrast "hot cold" stardust4ever palette.
I also did an "Earth and Space" palette with subtle greens and purples that I used for many of the absmandvar renders and videos I did in 2013. Although I do have a good eye for color, creating palettes isn't one of my strong points. Take care.
