due to the fact that in the db is only 5 megabytes left, i felt to switch the databases, but unfortunately
after hand-inserting tons of db sql queries, i realised that the forum only works with mysql4.x and not with 5.x....

so it will be re-done later this weekl, sorry for inconvenience... hurt

hi there,
i transferred all the data to the new db, and changed the settings,
at first i had a typo in the server url, so no db connection was available, after i corrected that i got the error "database error" it seems that somehow
the users table or something isnt accessible....

has anybody poroblems migrating smf to mysql5.0 as well ? or did i something completely wrong ?!

the problem is that time is running out, only the messages table in the database consumes 50mb ... wikth attachments info, and gallery it is all about 65~mb ... JUST FOR THE CONTENT, additionally in the db are stored: pretty url schemes, logs, session data ...

and i can remove some logs, but this way i just get it down to 90mb(%) usage...

sad

damn i thought it was a straightforward thing ... and now hence i set the forum live again the database
has to be transfered again ... arg..... sad

I'd ask at the smf support forums.

I'm unfamiliar with this site's database & host structure or I'd ask there myself...

it is in the gallery script:

and it has something todo with mysql5 join syntax:

http://forums.oscommerce.com/topic/208286-1054-unknown-column-xxx-in-on-clause/

hmm, i will try to deactivate the gallery to check if that is the only module that is using such syntax....

Not a problem then.

Just give everyone 1 week to download their stuff  (maybe back it up yourself too for those who miss the announcement)  and ditch that outmoded gallery!!

smf has newer and better multimedia galleries now  afro

Be prepared - you may have no other choice!

Either that, or lock this entire forum and create a new one in the new database with a new url  (index2.php?)  (just link to it on top of the current index page).  That wont break any existing links, but it would give a totally blank slate to build a better forum on.

Whatever you deem best   afro
