Well, I've tried everything I can think of to sort this - and I hate
'throwing in the towel' - but since the introduction of the second
colour Dynamic Fog feature in v1.67.6 I've been unable to achieve
that outer glow effect that DF was so useful for. sad
The glow effect is certainly there in all 'preview' size images, but
after rendering at 'high' - my preference is 4000x2000 - the DF just
becomes almost another amorphous 'fog' effect.
This is really frustrating, as I use DF to add that final finish to my
pieces, and very much miss it!
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't think what - anyway,
I've attached 2 example images, and also the image params, and hope
somebody can offer a solution?

The answer is easy:  A stepwidth limiter of 0.01 makes all steps nearly the same size,  and knowing that the dynamic fog is based on the count of steps til the object is reached, this leads unfortunately to an amorphous fog.

Not sure if there could be a kind of trick to come around this, beside increasing the dynamic fog and adjusting the offsets  to remove the strong global gradients.

So, it basically comes down to a trade off between noise reduction
and DF effectiveness. Think I can live with that - just need to consider
the SWL settings for the formula types I'm using a little more in future.
Thanks for the swift response Jesse! A Beer Cup

No Matter where you go there you are

Yeah, I noticed that right off too MJB, I found a good trade off point is around a SWL of .1 and .25. You still get good clean renders for the most part and the DF seems effective for filling in and highlighting.

Cheers Len! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who noticed this -
got one re-cooking now with new settings - so hopefully I can
get some good ol' glows back in my stuff! wink
