Someone on DeviantArt asked me how to find minibrots in Mandelbulb3D. So I posted this mini-tutorial, and I thought it was stupid not to post it here in the first place cheesy
I will try to write some more in the future. You can answer the poll on my DA page to choose the one you would like: http://bib993.deviantart.com/

To find minibrots in M3D there are several formulas that you can use, the easiest one is Integer Power. This is the default formula when you run the program. Just go in the formula tab and instead of 8 in the integer power field, enter 2.
Then go in the "Cutting" tab and check the Z box to cut the fractal in half accross the z=0 plane. You should get this:

Mandelbulb3Dv16{
K.....S....O/...w....2...............1.........E................................
........................................kz1........A./..................y.2.....
................/ME//....6.I....e/....E2.....omEQgisq6rD/..........c./...w1/...U
z.....kD..../..........wz.......................................................
........YsAIxzzzjz1..........WAbUdisqcljRRxgCKosEwnYRydIKa5uzwPN9SaPRGyDFHQlSHA1
Iw1iNMIOip7tzqF/G0ZZtVyD......I/......................sD..kz....................
.............................UWRVB.iq3q.6RLM1UxRVB.Os3q.sXLM1UMSVB..............
...........................U..6.P....M4...EB....W....61....F....8/...I1....UJl12
...U.iVFwxDE./ozPM2Tzz7lz16.mc..zXCc.El18XGQeGyDjvIRhrVAkz1............28.kFrA0.
FWb96aAIVzvh1se7Umvxz0........../6U0.wzzz1................................E.0c..
zzzz.................................2U.8.kzzzD.................................
/6U0.wzzz1...................................2CcN/UvNP6.eeWCNq0.yRii.EJJUk1f..XR
S1.mx3CcN/UvNP6.QsLsUa3.ibhV..bTV1OK.sSq40.ly3CcN/UvNP6.MwLsUa3.ibhV.kqTV1OK.sSq
40.kz3CcN/UvNP6...EsUa3.eeWCNq0.IJ36wk8.wyLsUa3.................................
E....2....E..........6....EGiFLNbJaQU.pPrJaQ.........................c..........
...................../........zj................................................
................................................................................
........................}

Then use the 3D navigator to find a minibrot as usual in the Mandelbrot set. Of course you might want to increase the number of iterations if you zoom deep. And if you want the fish-eye effect, set the FOVy value to 105 for example. There you go:

Mandelbulb3Dv16{
K.....S....O/...si...2.....2Jpy7RbLSy8ICpznyhVkDC54YMp0zbzPYu.EZ.7ZczYpY6elhAoaD
................................q6Lj8fEbt32........A./.................EO/2.....
................/ME//....6.I....e/....E2.....Ye.hZ3X/PSD/..........c./...w1/...U
z.....kD..../..........wz.......................................................

.............................UWRVB.iq3q.6RLM1UxRVB.Os3q.sXLM1UMSVB..............
...........................U..6.P....M4...EB....W....61....F....8/...I1....UJl12
...U.iVFwxDE./ozPM2Tzz7lz16.mc..zXCc.El18XGQeGyDjvIRhrVAkz1............28.kFrA0.
FWb96aAIVzvh1se7Umvxz0........../6U0.wzzz1................................E.0c..
zzzz.................................2U.8.kzzzD.................................
/6U0.wzzz1...................................2CcN/UvNP6.eeWCNq0.yRii.EJJUk1f..XR
S1.mx3CcN/UvNP6.QsLsUa3.ibhV..bTV1OK.sSq40.ly3CcN/UvNP6.MwLsUa3.ibhV.kqTV1OK.sSq
40.kz3CcN/UvNP6...EsUa3.eeWCNq0.IJ36wk8.wyLsUa3.................................
E....2....E..........6....EGiFLNbJaQU.pPrJaQ.........................c..........
...................../........zj................................................
................................................................................
........................}

Then have fun with the coloring and lighting.

thanks for your mini-tutorial bib!

As a new member at this forum, I'm very surprised that a centralized Tutorial forum has not been establishment yet. sad the php search function is really of no help for new or experienced members to find, HOW TO STUFF! ....its scattered all over the place.

my original question: http://www.fractalforums.com/discuss-fractal-forums/where-is-the-tutorial-section-in-this-forum/

Even: links such as this, should occur on in a Tutorial Links forum: http://haltenny.deviantart.com/art/Mandelbulb3D-Tutorial-3-195041201

I belong to the following forum: http://forums.sketchucation.com : note Tutorials is one of the prominent titles on the opening web page.

cheers!
