Good Morning Everybody,

I'm looking for a method for generating a seamless 3d mandelbulb/fractal skybox for a use in video games where there are textures (images):
front, back , right, left, top, and bottom sides seamlessly connected to form a box (skybox).

Thanks

to me your question is not very clear, a sky box is the distant box of the sky for a 3d map where they put mountains and sky? you want to take a face view of mandelbox fascia and use as texture in a skybox? should be easy! your question sounds like you want to make a 3d engine or a game engine or something.

Hi ant123,
Your first guess is the one , I want to control the camera view to get 6 images that are seamless textures, i have Mandelbulber and Mandelbulb3d, when I set fovY (field of view on Y) to 90 or 100 I get very approximate results, However it would be much better if there is fovX. In other words, this can be achieved if I can make the camera view Orthographic (not perspective). smiley

I don't think so. What you want is just for the view to be square, right? Try making the image size square, and setting fovY to 90.

Nota : a "sky-box" is a (big) empty half-sphere. The player is "in" this sphere.

If you want to map a picture on this surface, you must change the geometry of this picture ! (the dome is non-euclidian.) There are some filters under PS to "spherize" a picture
