This animation shows a random evolution of a 3D Iterated Function System Fractal. There are just two maps in the system which are (shifted, scaled) rotations, but the rotations change with time. As the rotations change, the spirals shift and reform. Implemented in the open source R language with a short home-grown script. For others and information see:

Added: Personally, I think the tetrahedra are too "shiny". Can anyone point me to an example of a format I can use to dump my data on tetrahedrons into a real ray tracer?

That was pretty cool.  I think, though, that it would be easier to see the changes in the structure of the fractal if it rotated more slowly; perhaps 1/2 to 1/3 the current speed.  Some of what I saw was really cool except that it rotated out of view too quickly.  Otherwise, though, I thought it was great.
