waiting for frames to render

The software I'm using for this animation does not allow you to save as an image sequence  It saves all the frames together within its own file type and uses a tweening method to allow interpolation between key frames during playback. Only at this point can I then create a video file/image sequence. BTW I have crashed using this software before (both times I might add the crash was down to stupid me and not the software) and after the first crash all the rendering was still there afterwards, but with this last crash I lost it  I would be almost finished by now if it had not happened! grrrrr oh well whats done is done--
and I only have another 15 frames to render to finish this dam thing!! Its just a shame its taking about 2 days per frame at this point. I dread to think how long the last frame will take....

for all those days months you could write your own software for something as simple as Mandelbrot

Nwbie here & just found this thead. Had to laugh.  When I just started to work with ChaosPro, I was impatient.  Movied mouse too quickly so even in "real time" it was too fast.  But I do thionk that with skill comes patience.  IE knowing the outcome helps!  Also have learned that I can do other things while rendring video.  Check back from time to time.

What do you do to train your patience, or how do you ease the pain?

I posted this in another thread, but after realizing that others may never have thought of it - I decided to post it here too!

This pretty much only applies to deep zooms into The Mandelbrot Set, or any other animation where the later frames take considerably longer than the early frames...

... I have about ten frames to go though so not more than a couple of weeks rendering left.

Have I ever mentioned that I prefer to render such dives in reverse, then play it backwards for compiling?

That way the longest frames get over with first, and render times actually speed up toward the end!!

Does wonders for the psychology of waiting.

I must be weird, because I actually find watching the individual frames rendering to be soothing.  I can sit for quite awhile just watching the pixels fill in.

I am on my first "experimental" deep zoom.  I know it will go too fast, yet still I let it render....  Is it the psychy just not wanting to kill a render even if it may turn out to be a speeding bullet?  I'm not worried about wasting time.  I just can't seem to stop it.  I'm sure it will last for at least another day or two.  I can always change which cpu it runs on and make its priority low so I can do other things if needs be.

11 hours and 120x300 is only 26%... I can't even tell if it is actually minibrot there, or just underiterated spiral that goes much deeper if not forever? And if it is minibrot, it is probably poorly chosen (asymmetric one). Any way, if it takes over 40 hours to render this preview, it is going to take a month to take one goddamn frame down there. How do you deal with this crap? Or do you always just stay away from large minibrots and never run into this kind of situation?

still underiterated at 4000000 iterations I was looking for amazon ec2 to compute it. their "medium high-cpu instance" starts at $161 and $0.09 per hour which is about 74 days of computation min. on the other hand, you can get full year of background calculations for free, but I don't think that would get you anywhere.
