Anyone know the title of this book please?

Some time ago in the late 90s I had a book about atoms.  I don't remember the author and never got round to reading it before I moved and had to give up most of my books. It was remarkable because it had actual colour 'photos' of atoms on colour plates. Ok I know you can't photograph an atom but it is possible to visualise their locations and get an idea of how they might look. Anyway I have searched and can not find it! All I know is it was written in the 90s.
Any ideas.
