Here you can find an application bundle for mandelbulber based on Quartz (no X11, no terminal): I did test a bit using net-render: it is not so bad!  smiley
there are a few things to fix like menus and buttons. tongue stuck out
There is also an installer , for fractals's sake!  afro
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/files/?source=navbar
In this page you can read some infos about: http://voidwarranties.be/index.php/Mandelbulber_for_mac I may try to write it better. embarrass

if you are using OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and you have problems running the installer because a popup says that you are attempting to open an app downloaded from a source other than the Mac App Store, you'll need to override Gatekeeper in order to open it (see System preferences then Security & Privacy).

I can't seem to test the netrender capability with OSX , I have a couple of windows machines running 1.17-2 which Net rendering between themselves work fine (except I can't use the actual local IP address I have to use the machine's windows name).

But on the OSX side (1.16) if I attempt to connect it as a client, I can't use the machine's name as the IP because it'll crash the OSX app, if I use a local static IP the OSX app just hangs an times out then re-tries and times out again.

If I try to run the OSX app as the server, the windows side won't connect because 1.16 is older than 1.17-2

So basically OS X 10.7 is what I'd like to get to join the render farm, but can't.  (either that or try to get it running on FreeBSD 9.1, but the latest version in ports is 1.13.1 yet oddly does not have the -ip and -port option on that version).
