I hope next year you'll win!
Not that I don't like Taurus' animation, don't get me wrong. I justed wanted to congratulate you on the narrative efforts and the graphical variety you put in your videos.

no harm, that's ok for me. to be honest, i didn't think, i could beat effies "crayons". compared to this, my vid is rather old fashioned, but i decided to work on concept and strong first 30 seconds (incl intro). dunno if i'm right, but i guess this was a good decission. looking forward to battle next year...

my favorite was "let me gO" because it was great music, and a fully featured long animation path, aswell as yours taurus, but the music was better wink

Melancholic towers are  melancholic

lol, this sounds more like a compliment to me... thanks grin
I think it's a matter of how the observer reacts to the image... I must admit that both Johan's work and mine don't have specially a joy or happiness feel, but I think there's nothing wrong about it... in my case maybe it reflects the way I was feeling at the moment I did it. But are they really so depressing?
The only thing that got me depressed is that the winner image is a just a simple photo manipulation of an image taken from an ad. The rest is just fine wink

Cheers,

I feel depressed that you got depressed. And I feel sorry that I failed to generate my contest entry with a formula.

Hey Lhogo. you shouldn't take Kali that seriously... I think... wink
Your image was a much worthy winner, you thought outside the box and made a great creative image which many people liked and gave five stars (me included).
Don't be depressed, be happy, soon you get the most precious mug you've ever owned!
Cheers A Beer Cup

Off course, It's just my opinion...

I feel depressed that you got depressed. And I feel sorry that I failed to generate my contest entry with a formula.

...and I was paraphrasing Asdam's, I'm not depressed about it... not at all... just a bit dissapointed. Also I'm not saying it's a fail of yours, you managed to win the contest without formulas, so congratulations anyway. I give you the credit for originality and the idea... the image is cool, but for me is only a funny one, and way overrated if this was really a "fractal art competition", and not something like a "general digital art contest that must include something related to fractals". For me, the beauty on fractals is on the way that math generates them, giving life to shapes and patterns from nothing more than a simple recursive formula, or some algorithm. Then is like a photographer's work, exploring, looking for the scene, searching for patterns, colors and lighting that helps you to give the image your own artistical touch. That's fractal art for me, maybe is another different thing for others, and that's ok. Also, besides the strictly "fractal" aspect, I think that any generative art should be more valued on a site like this... don't know what else to say, I just wanted to express my disconformity about your work being the winner. Sorry.

I didn't know that fractal art is inherently bound to using math formulae. I must have misinterpreted the meaning of "made up of anything you like" and "be innovative, creative" in the contest's Wildstyle section guidelines:

The wildstyle section will hold entries that are still images, made up of anything you like, 3d/2d/layering/photography, be innovative, creative and keep in mind the motto: "the possibilities are infinite"

i do not think, this discussion is necessary. The infinity set is well related to fractals, and no general digital artwork. Further the contest is decided by the community and not a jury. Personally i see  the infinity set also a bit critical, but this is a matter of taste and not of interrest in the end.

gotta watch yours next time as well, taurus, but it is sooooo slooooo

i won the contest, so i'll stay sooooo coooool!
