Why the 100MB cap on the video output? We've all got plenty of space to spare and 100MB -- heck even a GB -- is a negligible amount of space these days.

no cap, just that video normally does better job at compressing all frames together vs saving them all as individual images. this scale estimation thing is taking far more time than I hoped for, so far I got scales for only 250 images.

Package containing all pictures posted to this thread so far: https://mega.co.nz/#!XRNCFBgZ!YU7IThq0sQtFtsQ7hoIaphB3qThcI4-dBpcPJ4w8YJE approximate relative scales for images in this zip attached, in case someone wants to make a video before I will have a chance to

So, here goes the zoomer with 1st 268 images. Hmm, let's try to embed it here, shall we? http://swf.wonderfl.net/swf/usercode/0/04/0498/04987559228137be56174d391fab27703b0acc14.swfClick and hold to zoom, move your mouse to change zoom direction. I might add other images later, if I feel like...

Just spectacular - in both directions! Really great job making this zoom - and really great job Pauldelbrot making the images in the first place. A real treat - thanks!

Thanks to both of you. I found that evdz1_263 got a ten degree rotation applied to it somehow. I'm not sure how that happened. That may have caused some of the difficulty for makc; sorry about that.

The list of relative scalings was included in case any newcomers to the thread could use the information. https://mega.co.nz/#!nBtC0BqC!H-MfOFTRMJ9Nr4ZAYZX3OR01JSlmPSrnLAvzkHn31v4

updated the thing so it does not actually do anything once everything is loaded and you don't hold the mouse. in case someone's cpu was melted. doubt it, though.
re rotation, I did not notice anything around 263rd image, two shitty fits were 52 and 201. the biggest difficulty by far was random naming scheme (or 2nd biggest; I did waste lots of time by reviewing every fit and tweaking the scale; now I think I could do this fully automatically and noone would notice the difference).

it would be nice to see how far the animation is gone, at first i thought the bar in the middle stands for it, but it seems to just visualise the loading process

if this was youtube video, you would automatically have red bar ) btw, opting for video would open possibilities for blurring out pixels and image borders (latter being questionable improvement - but still), since you don't have stupid crossdomain restrictions offline, unlike in zoomer app. btw, zoomer comes with source and is editable online (that site is like jsfiddle for flash), so you could add 2nd bar in just few clicks and couple dozens of types
