Sorry if to some the question might appear nonsensical or even naive.  As I see more and more interpretations of fractals it seems that every mechanical structure, space and even concepts are already encoded in the mathematical formula from which fractals are derived.  Is this  because maths is simply a representation of our physical reality, space, shapes, forces etc.? Why does everything appear to already be, 'in there'?

I have yet to see a decent Fractal Cow.

And yes, I think since Math was created to describe The Universe that it would be even more of a shock if we never found such things in it.  That would imply our Math is inadequate to the task for which it was created.   afro

Imo, orbit traps are a kind of cheat with fractals... And no, there is no chance to encode all in a formula, and so many fantastic formulas have to be written jet smiley

Cheating in Art is what it's all about!

Sort of...

I just love any tools that work to enhance other Art Projects.  The more and different tools I can use to get any one finished product, the better.

I'm wondering, what is meant by orbit traps being a cheat?  And is it implied that the cheat somehow cheapens or invalidates the fractal image?

It's usually a reference to putting photographs in orbit traps.  Some people insist that makes it "No longer a fractal" - but I insist it still is, just a fractal with a VERY different sort of coloring algorithm!
(It's Lissa {my fiancee} of course!)
