 Hi Everyone!

oh ya I'm the new one to the forum although I'm not new to fractals (big smile) ... however in many ways I've only scratched the surface and still have much more to learn ... so you see I was so happy to find you all .. don't have a lot of time to spend here but I'll be checking as often as I can ... looks like a great forum and I'm looking forward to meeting you (big smile) ...

just to let every one know (if they're interested) programs I have used .. some more than others and some I'm just beginning to learn ....

fractal vizion, MBFracts, Sterling, Sterling2, Iterations, Fractal Forge, Fractal Explorer, Apophysis, Tierazon, Dof-Zon, Manpwin, Kaosrhei, Aros Fractals, Mandelview, DoubleFractal, Fraqtive, ApolFrac, Chaoscope, ChaosPro, FractalStudio, XaoS, GnoFract 4D, UltraFractal 5, Incendia .... and some I think I forgot (grin) ...

quite a list eh .. some are way more useful than others and some are easy to learn and others boggle me (grin) ... but what's really cool is many almost most of them I can run using Linux (Linux MInt - in the same family as Ubuntu but more tasty (grin)) but others will only work in Windows ... since my Linux 'puter is bigger, better and faster and with a lot more memory I'm tickled pink they work in Linux (big smile)

I'm also interested in 3D work and pattern generation ... for 3D I'm into XenoDream for now .. would love to try Bryce and the rest but they don't run in Linux and my windows computer is a bit to slow and old to handle all the rendering ... I do have Blender but have yet to tackle that one... as for patterns I use whatever works including PaintShopPro7.04 and Gimp ...

My favorite place to hangout  RedBubble www.redbubble.com/people/owlspook and have all my new work up there ... a lot of my older work is at Zazzle www.zazzle.com/owlspook*... plan to do a lot more work on Zazzle this summer ...

well that's about it for now ... catch ya all later ...... owlspook

Greetings, and Welcome to this particular Forum !!!      smiley

I saw your posting a couple of months ago in the XenoDreamers group on Yahoo.  And found your various web locations back then.  Also saw from those web pages that you are from Gillette, Wyoming.  (One definitely needs something to do in the winter time up there, and fractals is a good indoor activity.)    wink

We have a very diverse group of individuals here, and a lot of good knowledge as well.  Hope you enjoy your stay here.

And by the way, I was wondering which "MandelView" program you used??  There are four different ones that I know of.

Hi .. yup I currently reside in NE Wyoming ... yup way in the middle of nowhere (big grin) nice to meet ya (big smile) and thanks for the welcome (smile) ... and you're sure right .. fractals are a good indoor activity (grin)

you asked about the MandelView Program ... found it on the web not long ago ... written by a guy named Muurman?? relatively primative although it does have a gui (grin) ... think it was written in 2000 .... limited to mandelbrot set and one coloring scheme as I can find with it ... but it's fast and I use (after sizing and manipulation) the images to create patterns ... just a little toy that I play with now and then (smile) .. think I still have the link .. let me check ..... ah here it is:  http://www.geocities.com/mandelview/

thanks for the nice welcome (big smile) ... owlspook

Hi Trifox (smile) ...

thanks for the welcome (big smile)

yup I have Incendia but for some reason I have a little bit of a mental block with it ... I've seen the work it can produce and wow I'm impressed too ... just going to have to sit down sometime and spend a few hours playing with it .. but until then I find xenodream a lot of fun to play with, with what seems like limitless possibilities (smile) ... and ya freeware is always incredibly good (big smile) especially on my budget (grin) ...

nice meeting ya TriFox (big smile)

Ahh, yes.  I thought it might be that one.  The other ones are a bit less well known, but I wanted to found out.  Thanks for the info.     smiley
