I'm a Mac user but Apophysis only runs on a Windows platform. The Mac equivalent of Apophysis is Oxidizer and it always crashes my computer. I'm going to purchase a PC just to run Apophysis (I love that program!). Can I run it on the new Windows 8 or should I buy a PC with Windows 7? Thanks!

I'm a Mac user and I didn't buy a PC for Apophysis - I bought Parallels and installed Windows XP and Windows 7 on virtual machines in Parallels.  I find Apophysis runs better on XP than on W7.

I used to use Oxidizer on my Mac until it became so unstable.  Fractal Architect is a good alternative, and JWildfire is perhaps even better...

I'm a mac user too and I use Apophysis 7x using a wrapper made in wineskin winery. It's pretty easy to setup (here's a link to a post I made detailing the process - http://www.fractalforums.com/macintosh-fractal-software/apophysis-on-mac-(using-wineskin-winery-wrapper)/msg59592/ ) and it hasn't given me any problems. I run a few different programs using wrappers, including mandelbulb3d, apophysis and some games too (dawn of war series and oblivion). I would recommend using a wrapper rather than vmware or parallels, and definitely don't use bootcamp just for the sake of using apophysis, I have just setup bootcamp and it can take a long while and throw many problems your way.

Was wondering which way you ended up going??   Did you get a Windows machine or go with something to use on your MAC to allow Apophysis to run??
