Add more light to Apophysis

I've been doing some Apophysis tutorials and my problem is that in all of them the light is ok, but in mine I have to increase the brightness so I can see on what i'm working.
Am I doing something wrong? If I increase the brightness, I loose the details.
Can anyone help me out? Or explain how Apophysis works?

Try increasing the gamma to 2-3.
