Can social chaos be quantified?

I had been thinking about it, and that may apply heavily statistically, but individual actions are like the picture details.

Consider another phenomenon that may apply here:

Good, fast, and cheap.  You can only get two out of three, more or less.

(It's an old one, but notice we have to negotiate this problem all the time.)

Check out John Von Neumann's work, mostly @ Rand -game theory- "prisoner's dilemma" and a variant called "dollar auction" in particular.  These things shaped U.S. foreign policy.  Dark stuff!

Then ask whether we are living in a world where those in power have not grossly misinterpreted human nature most of the time.

I take time out to remember Gore Vidal, one of the last decent people to spend a lot of time in U.S. media.  Notice in particular not much of him in the last 15 years, which should tell you something.
