more by accident, i stumbeled lately in the "all time most viewed" image section and to my surprise i found one of my early mb3d images (http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=7583) with more than 3900 views huh?. ok, it wasn't so bad but not so good either. i know, the counter counts every access - even those created by search bots, but this doesn't declare this enormous number.

as i saw suspiciously many images of a potential image spammer in this list, my first thought was, that someone scripted his browser to create clicks automatically for his (or her) images and had some transposed digits in the url. i tried some neighbours, but didn't find anything with more than a few hundred views.

so now my question is: where do all the clicks come from?

any idea?

regards

Had to go lookin to find that gallery, never thought of looking in Gallery Stats before. Searchbots from everywhere are always crawling around logging everything, New or Old, probably a major portion of the clicks. Doesn't seem to me views are out of line with the length the image has been in the gallery, type or quality seems not to be a qualifier. Hell, I just started uploading work at DevArt a couple of months ago, one of my uploads was selected as a Daily Deviation and got over 7,000 hits and 100s of Favs in a 24 hour period, now that's pretty crazy.
