Ahoi !

I'm deeply in love with the Mandelbox.

Mandelbulber makes very very pretty images but is kinda slow (waiting 5-7 seconds per image).
Fragmentarium lets me navigate easily and almost in realtime, but doesn't make nearly as pretty images as Mandelbulber.

I'd like to find the interesting stuff in Fragmentarium and then go to that place via coordinates in Mandelbulber and render a nicer image there.

Why do the same scale-values in Fragmentarium and Mandelbulber produce different cubes?

How do I convert the coordinates in Fragmentarium to coordinates in Mandelbulber?

Good question - I think Mandelbulber has added some additional options to its Mandelbox implementation. Also notice that in Fragmentarium it is the square of the folding radius that is specified.

Mandelbulber specifies a viewpoint, and an orientation of the camera as yaw, pitch, and roll (I'm not sure relative to what), and has different perspective modes. Fragmentarium uses Eye,Target, and Up vectors. It is not easy to do the conversation by hand, I'm afraid.

It would be nice to add a GPU-preview to Mandelbulber, but the Mandelbulber code is getting more complex and now supports a lot of systems, so it would require a volunteer with a lot of spare time :-)

How about a collaboration between the guys who made Mandelbulber and Fragmentarium?

Well, I'm quite busy (and somewhat lazy) for the time being, so Fragmentarium progress is slow... But I just saw at another thread that Buddhi has begun looking at OpenCL, so perhaps you don't have to wait for long.

Not so long ago I thought Buddhi didn't have that much time either and porting a significant portion of the code (in a preview function you don't need all the functionality) to a language like OpenCL will take a while.
