Anyone yet found a good software program to stitch tiles together from a big-render?
There has to be some decent solution for this issue...

i use gimp for those quests (less expensive), but i don't think that standard image processors are a good solution, as it's still handcrafting.

The problem is that i have no image library that can save compressed files line by line, then i would had this option already done of course.
Loading all tiles before saving you could run into memory issues on m3d again.

Well... spent more time learning Gimp skills... Using a Grid seems to do the trick very well...
Configure grid.... enable snap to grid... load up the tiles as layers... and then move them manually into
position...
I did discover a program named Panavue that can do tile stitching - and it does work - once you figure
it out .... but I don't like dropping $129 for the pro version to do huge files...
Panavue is the only one I've found sofar...

I use PhotoFiltre, it allows you to input the coordinates where to place the upper left corner of all tiles at any point on the Canvas, so there is no manual moving of tiles or guess work on placement.

Does anyone know how to automate stitching in PS or anywhere? I've got 800 tiles to stitch manually (400 for the image, 400 for the Z buffer), that's gonna take me hours...

I've tried the Photomerge feature but it works only horizontally and needs overlapping.

I also found a PS script but I can't make it work: http://vrayc4d.com/files/223_tile-camera-auto-restitcher-all.html

I think our good old friend Fiji (remember voxels?) might help, there is a Stitching plugin. Might need some file renaming using Bulk Rename Utility beforehand.

Works like a charm with Fiji.

I just had to use Bulk Rename Utility beforehand to rename sequentially all images because Fiji does not understand the XiiYjj numbering, so instead of X01Y01 to X20Y20 I just renamed them from 1 to 400.

Then I processed the tiles using the column-by-column mode in the Grid/collection stitching plugin.
