I tried to post a message with some links to images, but i think I blew it somehow. I copied the links into my message and the images all popped up and then the message dissappeared.

Thanks to the moderator for fixing up the links for me.

My favorite is the image that was randomly given the name "4pmemtv.jpg " I called it Frosty Bubbles. It was created by plotting the positions on the grid as generated by the 125th through 130th iteration of the loop used in generating the Mandelbrot set and granting the color value of the grid position as determined by the loop number.

Of all the images I have generated, this one stands out in my mind as complete somehow. Most of the other images were suggestive of something interesting yet to be found, but inadequate on their own.

The range of possible images that can be generated by fractal programs seems infinite. There are many images with commonalities, but then there are many that have a unique character to them. Ironically, after viewing hundreds of images, the infinite richness of them becomes boring. It's like finding another star in the sky. The truly compelling images are those that resonate with the human heart and mind. These seem the most likely to take the top honors at contests. It is not very surprising that it takes a trained artist to take these unusual swirls, contortions, and repetitions and use them as colors on a pallet to produce works of art worthy of that title.

Thanks,

KS

You are more than welcome.    smiley

I understand what you are saying.  Even as popular as spirals seem to be on such things as calendars and posters, one begins to become jaded to them after awhile.

But, after a couple of decades of viewing fractal images (literally hundreds of thousands), I still get enthused over those exceptional finds where something unique is presented to the persistent explorer.     wink

Frosty Bubbles is cool. Got a higher res copy?

I reckon a more iterated version with a few more blues would look awesome in a large enough image...

Yeah, I'd go along with that... ever done hallucinogens?
