Rendering online?

Good evening everybody,

is it possible to use (or rent) external cpu-power to for the renderprocess?  For example if I would like to render an animation that would otherwise take a week to render?
I only have one computer so I can´t hook up any more "here at home".

I guess that these external computers would also need to have the same software installed that i´m using?

There are a number of companies that will provide rendering services... for a price
they are called render farms, do a Google search

if you don't wan to provide the render jobs by hand, some programms are prepared for net rendering with client-server applications. Ultrafractal or Cinema 4d for example.
