Where to start?

Hello I am a graphic designer looking to start making fractal art like some of the more architectural renderings towards the bottom of this page

Anyone have a good place to start?
I'm pretty good with photoshop and have been learning 3D modeling in Blender. I also downloaded a fractal generator plugin to run in photoshop so I've been playing around with that, but I'm not sure where to go next.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.
