Hi,

If I render a Mandelbox, and then switch to the Hybrid formula with only one formula - the Mandelbox - I expect to see exactly the same rendering, but this doesn't happen.

The Menger Sponge in the Hybrid appears even more 'broken' and there are differences between 0.98 and 0.99 versions here too.

It's been a while since I've played with Mandelbulber so maybe I'm missing something.

Cheers,
James.

There is a difference because normal Mandelbox formula uses analytic distance estimation but Hybrid formula uses Delta DE algorithm which sometimes is less accurate or not fit to some formulas. So sometimes the image is very noisy and distorted. To avoid this effect in Hybrid formulas sometimes there is enough to check "Linear DE mode" option (Fractal/Ray-tracing parameters) or to decrease "DE Step Factor:. Then the fractal should look the same.
