I am creating some code to create an Escher like effect with perspective but I am a bit stuck, so I was hoping someone here would know. I figured out how to do the Droste effect with a basic 2x3 matrix transformation.

But now I want to add perspective as well using a 3x3 transformation with x and y divided by z

How do I determine the transformation that is needed in polar coordinates to align the end and the start of the next iteration?

I have not got a clue yet what you are on about but I am willing to help. Absolutely fascinating pics.

When you move to 3d you have more variations but since you are using matrices I guess you can explore each possibility.

Also you may need to go to 4 x 4 matrices and pull out what you want as a special case as Hamilton did with quaternions.

Get back to me with some general idea/ explanation of what it is you are playing around with.
