Hey all,

I'm happy to join the Fractal Forums!  I hope to find some like-minded people here and also hope to learn from the knowledge everybody here shares.

I'm a computer science major (in progress), and have been drawn to computer graphics and algorithmic art every since I picked up a TI-83 graphing calculator.  I'm actually utilizing the Mandelbrot Set for one of my class projects right now, and am sure I'll generate some questions for you all in the Mandelbrot section.

Thanks for having me!

More about what?  grin

The project is to write software which utilizes mutliple core computers, as in clusters.  Using multiple cores allows for very fast rendering.  I'm working on an arbitrary floating point data type so that we can produce extremely deep zooms, and trying to learn enough x86 assembly to gain some performance increase.  We would also like to show real time animations of Julia Sets and zooms.

I've posted one of my questions in the Mandelbrot section actually, I'm sure the answer is obvious, I just seem to be having a mental block.
