Aug 30th is Mandelbulb day

Correct me if I'm wrong, since I wasn't here back on that day, but it was on August 30th, 2009 that Paul Nylander (bugman) posted the famous message: http://www.fractalforums.com/index.php?topic=742.msg7846#msg7846

Daniel White's (twinbee) 2nd order spherical coordinates Mandelbrot formula was already an amazing discovery in and of itself and drew a lot of interest, but it was the simple idea (in retrospect!) of trying higher orders of "z" which led to what we now simply call the "Mandelbulb."

Let's not forget that as early as 1990, Rudy Rucker introduced the use of spherical coordinate systems to render a 3-D version of the Mandelbrot set.
