MarkJayBee was close, I was at my job - which is almost like taking a wee nap, but not quite.

I thought "Amazing Box" in Mandelbulb 3D was the Mandelbox!  

What other questions do you have about the program?

Ok, I will ask many questions then. the iterationcount, does it effect the iterationcount that it is only in? If so, could that be used to create fine details? What does it do in the end? Also, I was wondering if I have an equation, how could I add it to the program to see if it would work? What kind of coding do you use for the program? (I have a cat in front of the screen if my typing is really bad that is why.)

Yes, iteration count only effects the individual section to which it is applied.  But in some cases it may actually work in the opposite way you think!  The Mandelbox tends to lose detail at higher iterations, not gain detail.  But other formulas may gain detail, and others still may be indifferent to iteration count.  Experiment with each type to see the effect iterations have.

Not sure how to add a custom formula to Mandelbulb 3D - I don't think it's possible the way it's set up.

And my cat got tired of being shooed away from the keyboard.  She now has taken to jumping up on my shoulder while I'm on the computer, and watching things from up there

The Mandelbox actually crumbles to an infinitely thin cloud of dust as you increase iteration depth. The renderings that people here are producing of it are really images of level sets (analogous to the coloured bands around a simple 2D Mandelbrot image). Fortunately, the Mandelbox displays fractal detail even there.

for 3d renderings the iteration depth is not the only thing to consider, you have to set the distance where to stop at the surface to very small values, and use really fine ray marching steps, to achieve to render higher iteration counts correctly

Thanks, I noticed that you must change the distance in-order to achieve great renders. I also noticed that you have to render twice or maybe three times as larger than what the original size you want to be.
