I discovered this site from a link on a youtube video I really liked on a Mandelbrot zoom.

as for me, in a way I have been fascinated by fractals and fractal art since probably the first fractal artwork I saw as a young kid.
Recently though, I discoverred how much fun it is to explore fractals in great detail with various fractal generators.

anyway, so far I have created 2 fractal zoom videos from fractal explorer which doesn't zoom in that far, but at the same time you're able to generate unique fractals, though never really studied the math behind most fractals. My limited experience with computer programming though, I'm finding seems to help out a little with how fractals are generated. Also, I created 9 other fractal zooms, some of them quite deep using fractal explorer when I finally decided to purchase it.

Anyway, I'm still trying to get oriented with this site, but so far it seems similar to some other forums I'm involved in so shouldn't be that hard.
Also, I will be more than happy to share some of my favorite fractal zooms I've done, even though the videos I do have have completely unoriginal names grin

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

Do please post some of your videos here! It's set up such that all you need to do is put the URL from youtube in a post, and the player will magically appear in a puff of cosmic smoke with fanfares of trumpets announcing it's arrival.

...

OK, maybe not quite so dramatically.  But it does work.

Fractal Explorer is on my list of programs to spend more time with, but time keeps getting away from me.

If you have any questions about the site, feel free to ask!  There are very few rules, but they can be found HERE.

Hi,  I'm curious as to what music you compose, since I compose as well.  It's interesting how fractals can influence subconsciously as well as consciously.

Cheers!

It's actually been a couple years since I've really done a lot of composing, but my most recent compositions would classify as minimalism (which I would consider closely related to fractals). Anyway, you can listen to some of my stuff on my youtube channel only about 3 or 4 are posted there though. its www.youtube.com/SethComposerGuy
Otherwise, I have most all my compositions uploaded here. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=607433&content=music&songcount=27&offset=0&currentPage=1

what kind of music do you compose?

Mostly post-modern-classical.  I do a mix of styles based on the total relentless act of pushing the button on harmony and teasing its very existence.   Most of my professors say I shouldn't use harmony this way but I do it anyways. cheesy

Good examples are here at http://soundclick.com/paintingsonsilence.

I will check out your stuff:

"The Long Way Home" reminds me of some Lou Harrison works, but without the micro-tones.  Very Nice!
All check out more later.

Thank you!

"Cloaked Hearts Unveiled" was a song I wrote about love.  smiley  If you couldn't have guessed.  cheesy

I wouldn't mind resampling some of your songs.  I have a hard time resampling percussion, since not all percussion samples use the same instruments per note, but I could try.  Let me know if you want me to try a song first to see if you like the samples I have.

I would need the original MIDI files if you can make them.  MIDI 1 or 0 or even both.  In case I need separate tracks of a voice.   You can email them to me at arcana23@yahoo.com.

It would be fun.  I unfortunately am not that good by ear, but it Would make a whole new remix. lol

I sure hope you did not pay a lot of money when you purchased Fractal Explorer, especially since it has always been FREEWARE from the authors.
