This is a really interesting application of fractal flames:

http://www.brainpaint.com/

It's a neurofeedback system obviously creating flames from eeg data. Don't miss the video recordings:

I'm wondering whether these are rendered or morphed in real-time. I'm very new to fractals and fractal flames - how can you implement these kinds of interactive flames; or at least an illusion of fractal flames interactivity? It would be great for VJ software and art projects.

The concept looks interesting at first sight, but when I see what's at the bottom of this page, I have doubts about their professionalism : http://www.brainpaint.com/testimonials.html

yeah, that metabolism thingy is odd. Especially as the last image is the ugliest of them all to me.... But ok, that might be personal opinion...
There *are* psychological barriers that might stop someone from reaching his/her goals, including metabolism problems... But still, that looks more like a cheap add than anything else...

This is nothing more than a SCAM !!!  angry    Over the past couple of years, this site and "product" have been discussed in several forums, email lists, and other public sites around the Internet.

The guy got hold of one of the many FREE software source codes, and then made a few modifications so that it would generate images.  He is now hoping there are enough gullible people that will get involved to make him some money.      fiery

Yeah, but think about how awesome it would be to manipulate flames or other fractal with just your mind. Just hook up and stand inside a virtual reality flame and control it.

Well, it's obvious that the eeg data is only being used as a seed for the flame generation or morphing, they don't hide this information... or what kind of "scam" should this page be?

You even can learn how to control games with your brain activity. If you find a neat way to map the eeg data, it should be possible to make someone learn how to control the flames.

I'm still wondering how these flames can possibly react in realtime, though  undecided Any guess what they are doing?
