Channelling Crystal The Channelling Quartz Crystal is recognized by the configuration of a large seven sided face, located in the center front position of the terminated end of the crystal; a triangular face is located on the opposite [backside] side of the crystal.
I would like to learn how to create images! Soo I thought the best way was to try to get others involved!

If you want images of the object you described, I would suggest a 3D Modeling Program like Blender or Wings 3D (both free!) or maybe Hexagon or Carrara (modestly priced), or even 3D Studio Max (OUTRAGEOUSLY Expensive!!).
All are easily capable of creating such objects for use in 3D Rendering Applications (Blender, Carrara, and 3D Studio Max all render as well - the others are just for modeling).
Hope that helps...

I'd need a reference image to start with. Is it just a "tube" with one heptagonal end and one triangular end?

What you don't have a "formula" in your files? lol I got the idea from a memebr of my "ponderings" group. He is meeting with Dick Carrigan at fermilab.

you know, a shape like this isn't exactly a fractal (found via google in, like, 5sec)

OK, that pic covers the heptagon part, but I don't see how it connects with the triangular part. Maybe I'll try doing a web search too, but it'll be Yahoo or something. I am not allowed to use google for anything! It's against my Religion and therefore blocked on all my computers

yeah, I know, I know xD Yahoo's Image Search was long time superior to Google's, actually. (In my opinion at least...) But Google added a bunch of new functions, bringing its image search to the same level.

I know I know I know...lol well just about anything CAN be fractal, right? Just thought maybe one of the "brainiacs here would maybe have a formula. Asking tooo much right?

this thing doesn't exactly have a formula. It's a set of points. As I understood it, the form doesn't have to be exact. All it is about is, that it is a crystal (SiO2-crystal), that grew naturally with a shape so that on one side of its tip, it has 7 edges and on the other side 3. As all SiO2-crystals. the base is a hexagon. So, it's all a matter of cutting a slightly reducing hexagonal prism in the right way.
Making a fractal out of it could be done in various ways... You could staple a lot of them on each other, to shape some kind of Crystal-twig-tree...

I cut the tops off of a few of them to make it easier to count the sides, but these crystals are hollow shells.

Ok, you turned it into a family of crystals. That, of course, is fractal now Looks nice. I just wish, I could see that raytraced with nice lighting and dispersion effects, caused by those crystals, with proper optical settings
