What is it, the z33 Mandelbulb? A box/bulb hybrid? Something like that?

What is it, the z33 Mandelbulb? A box/bulb hybrid? Something like that?

It's actually more of an IFS/Juliabulb hybrid, rendered on each iteration as follows:

1. Choose which of a set of affine transforms to perform based on translation and scale (in this case one of 7).
2. Apply chosen transform.
3. Apply (any) escape-time formula - in this case plain Julia for z^8(+zero) using the "-sine" triplex.
4. Transform back using the inverse of the transform applied in step 2.

That's it, the only extra things are to adjust your running derivative for DE by the scale of the transform used in step 2 and by the inverse scale in step 4, though in fact that's only actually strictly necessary in my code for if the "normal" formula used is a Mandelbulb rather than a Juliabulb since for plain z^p+c Juliabulbs all that happens is the two scales from the transforms cancel out.

This is the same object:

I should add that "Silver Eggs" was solid based on smooth iteration (potential) isosurface but "Mandelbulb Virus" was solid based on DE isosurface (just in case anyone's wondering why the shapes are slightly different).

Happy Easter to all (whether you celebrate or not).
    "Silver Eggs"

This is a very nice image!!!    smiley

But the "eggs" appear to be wrapped up within some elaborately decorated mesh netting.  Like little egg stockings or sacks.  Interesting effect.

More like detailed studding than a mesh, here's some  detail from the full-size render:

Don't get me wrong, I really do like the image and the way it came out.  But actually, I should have said within a crocheted covering instead of netting, something like the following:
