Interactive Mandelbrot set

A couple of weeks ago, Evgeny Demidov sent a post to the UseNet Newsgroup "sci.fractals" about a web page being worked on:

The whole web page is only 3.04 KB (3,123 bytes) in size, which includes the HTML, CSS and JavaScript.  But, the JavaScript uses the HTML-5 element "canvas", which works in most open source browsers (such as Firefox), therefore there are still problems when using Microsoft's Internet Exploder.
