From what I've read, mathematicians of Gaston Julia's era
caught a glimpse of a forbidden realm designed with
"monstrous" and even "pathological" curves.
I imagine the notion of "zero", at one time,
earned an equally extreme peer review.

In the future there may come a grudging admission
of the connection between Jungian synchronicity and numbers.
