Hello is there a limit on how many cores mandelbulb 3D will handle? I am about to build/buy a 12C rig...so just would like to be sure. Many thanks!

The limit are 64 Cores if I remember correctly

12 is definitely fine - had the chance to run it on a 12 core I7-5820K processor and it works fine - and fast!!!
