Alrighty then, still working out my distance calculator, but while messing around i stripped off the outer layers of a 3d mandelbulb julia and this is what I found...

julia set located at -0.13671875, -0.91796875, 0.25390625 - there's some are some linear features (kinda like scalloped lines across some of the surfaces - these are not in the data but are an artifact caused by the rendering software...

if I didn't know better I'd say you've just imaged a virus under an electron microscope.

yep that's what the girlfriend said as well...  here's another view of the same data set (with some additional gaussian smoothing and color work...)  Rendering up some different julia's now...
