beginning completely new

1.Why is it so difficult to start an apophysis completely from the beginning with 1 or two triangles and change some values. For me to learn with most of the time I see nothing, and my next question:
2.suppose I have a triangle 1 with color red and I want to use for the next triangle a colour of an other gradient. But when I choose a different gradient every triangle changes colour. How to prevent this?
