Hi there,
i have just rendered my first mandelbulb animation using Mandelbulb3D v1.89 as JPG pictures (1440x1080). I am searching for an efficient workflow or tool to render these into a high definition video. Quality should be high, I plan to do a longer movie in full HD soon, to be shown on a HD beamer for a private party.

btw.: as confusing as the Mandelbulb interface looked on a first glance, I was surprised how easy it is to create such animations, once you find the 3D navi button cheesy

A lot of us use VirtualDub, and for a FREE application it does quite a bit. cheesy

...Quality should be high...

Then, in the future, I suggest avoiding jpg at all costs!

png gives much nicer colors and is compressed losslessly, while jpg is lossy compression and any further compression for video just makes things worse.

But there is nothing wrong with VirtualDub! I loves it angel

Easiest way is vdub and x264 VFW codec for good quality HD video.

Cutting edge and best quality but more difficult would be to use the Strongene Lentoid HEVC Encoder DirectShow filter.

thanks for the tips! virtualDub does the job for now. most important clue for me was that i can just open the first jpg in a series with "open video". this put me off for some minutes, but now i'm really happy smiley

will stay away from jpg, you are right. png is much better.

Yes, VirtualDub is very good and I use it for other projects as well (assembling 'backwards' videos for example or doing this http://www.youtube.com/v/skYMKNMX3Rs&rel=1&fs=1&hd=1 or even some fractal zooms such as http://www.youtube.com/v/cTLyYj9_i38&rel=1&fs=1&hd=1 ).
Iťs a really good bit of kit once you get used to it, especially with all those filters too.
