Mandelbrot deep-zoom near business end of set. The prominent "lightning bolts" zigzagging off the largest bud, to the sides of the front spike, contain prominent minibrots far from the main set, and it's deep in elephant valley of the north one of these, near a microbrot and in an embedded Julia spiral. A bit more zooming in the center of this one will reveal a nano-brot.

One layer provides the blue to purple to black to pink to white gradient. The other superimposes high frequency brightening and darkening that makes the lightning bolts and other fine details visible. Without it, the image looks very flat and lacks much structure except for the spirals.

Freely redistributable and usable subject to the Creative Commons Attribution license, version 3.0.

As usual, all of today's are available as 2048x1536 jpegs by linking through the images and picking other sizes, and as 2048x1536 pngs upon request.

Sorry for my hiatus. The Athlon XP x2's mobo kicked it. It transpired that it would be as cheap to replace the entire b0x as it was to replace the mobo OR have it diagnosed and fixed. Hence the slightly-faster system specs now. Getting the new system set up, moving my data over, configuring everything, and resuming my in-progress render queue all took time. To top it off atpic's FTP server seems to have gone AWOL and HTTP uploads are slow, unreliable, and annoying.

Sorry for my hiatus.

Glad to see you back, and producing such nice deep zooms!!!    smiley

At least they should be a bit faster now.
