Hey everyone.

I'm a programmer and computer artist, so naturally I think fractals are just awesome. I haven't ever played around with them, though until recently, when I wrote my own OpenGL fractal explorer for the mandelbrot and burning ship fractals(which was way easier than I expected). I'm going to continue to improve my fractal explorer, and probably even dive into coding the mandelbulb and other 3D fractals at some point. Of course, I'll also try out some of the fractal explorers already out there, but it's even more fun to make my own.

The burning ship is my favorite fractal so far. Does anyone know of any formulas that are as awesome as Mandelbrot and BS? The Mandelbrot set gets by far the most attention, but I think there's a lot of new territory to be found in the world of 2D fractals.

hi there, i recently got a nice modification of the burning ship, which is even more easy, because
just the imaginary part gets positive, the real part stays the same, quite nice results here:

That's a pretty interesting fractal. It has some unique patterns, though, in most places, it's too "sparse" to approach the beauty of the big 2.

There are alsou one, for which I had problems to found thread. But here it is:

Its nice with coefficients 1, 1, 0, 0, 0, 2.4 and exponent smoothing or some other internal colouring method. Coeff 1,-1,0,0,0,2 is just normal mandelbrot.
