Sound-synchronized flame fractal motion with music by j13satori. The animation contains about 11000 frames and is made of about 180 flame fractals - all designed, animated and rendered in JWildfire. The uploading took more time than the rendering ;-)

lol, great work, actually it is quite hard to get a decent visualisation, very good, is switching of settings triggered by the music also !?

does it work LIVE ? or is it rendered using an mp3 ?!

The original motion is performed and recorded in realtime. But this currently does not lead to a really satisfying quality. Different flames with different variations, i. e. mathematical formulas, may lead to extremely different calculation times which makes it hard to achieve a constant frame rate.
So I have implemented the possibility to simply record this motion at any framerate and to create an according number of *.flame files. Those flames files can then be rendered at any quality later and combined with the original mp3 sound file.

And you are right, the first challenging part is to select/design fractals which look "good" at this kind of motion. And the next challenging part is to record the motion, but it is also a fun thing. The changing between flames and the changing of some flame params is done manually in realtime, where the values from the FFT apply an additional effect. (Please note that the software version to do this is not yet released, I. e. with the current version those features are not available yet.)
