Those are the two I use the most CK. I am starting with the old and kind of moving my way up with fractal programs. My reasoning is the good old saying "you have to crawl before you walk" approach to fractals. I like writing small formulas in Tierazon using the sin() and cos() and then changing the julia x and y parameters in small increments, but even changing it by a 10th yields some interesting results.
Asdam, I've tried Chaos Pro and got lost with it lol. I started off pretty good and then forgot what the heck I did in the first place to get what I did get. I had this really nice cone shaped fractal with a flame background. It looked like candy (yummy

) but didn't save it, because I didn't get a chance to. CP froze up and I never went back to it really after that. Thanks for the heads up about the crashing issue. I am wondering if it froze because of the reason that you've stated in your post. I will give it another shot minus the mmf5 and reb5 formulas. Thanks for the links too
