Hi,

I'm the author of the Apophymator script for Apophysis which people can use as a first step toward producing flame animations.
The script produces a series of flame images numbered sequentially which can later be converted into a video with 3rd party software such as VirtualDub.

I'm an amateur programmer and I'm not capable of writing any code except the form of simplified Delphi used by the Apo scripter.
So the Apophymator script would probably appear really funky to any accomplished programmer who might take a look.  (I'm more than a little self-conscious about that!)
But I think the script works as intended, even if it doesn't do that very efficiently.

The Apophymator script is available at this DA page:

An comparison between Apophymator and flam3 animations using the same set of flames for keyframes can be seen here:

Anyone who is particularly interested can click "Show Details" on the actual YT page for a link to the original video before it was compressed by YouTube.
(I hope the links are ok in this post.)

I realize that the main interest at FF currently revolves around the 3D mandel-apps.
In fact I've lurked around since about 9/2009 when the theoretical underpinnings of the "3D Mandelbrot" were being discussed but before any of the related apps appeared for public use.
I've been reading "Recent posts" just about every day since then.
I played around with M3D for about 3 months last year, and briefly with Mandelbulber too.

It's a bit difficult to switch gears for me though, between flames and bulbs. Sceptical
And I'd like to complete the next version of Apophymator before I try the bulbs again.

Thank you for the welcome.
Flames are nice, yes.  People have taken them a long way since I first noticed flames and started using Apo - around 2004.  I get lucky now and then but mostly my fractals, including flames, tend to be mediocre.

I'll be a little lost here for a while.  Mostly I've just read recent posts so I've barely looked at all the different subject categories.

btw, my impression is that you (& other mods) do a great job here Christian.
I'm grateful that you're willing to put forth the effort & energy to keep these forums running.
