Did you know that you can create a wormhole effect on your fractals by changing the bailout dynamicaly?

This is not palette cycling, but a gradual change of the bailout radius. But admittedly you can get identical results with computing a continuous potential (smoothed iteration count), and then do palette cycling afterwards.

The only difference is that animating the bailout radius will produce visible artifacts for very small radii. That's because the bailout radius in a mandelbrot program is actually an approximation to mathematical infinity ... and it takes larger radii to make that approximation (the outside of the bailout disk to an infinitely distant point) reasonably close.

In my experience, a bailout radius of 10 often suffices to make the level sets fairly good approximations of ideal equipotential curves. But calculation of continuous potential still has artifacts and requires at least one more iteration, which means a bailout radius of 10*10 = 100 or more.
