Looking on criticisms, tips etc about how I might get the most out of this fractal? The only postprocessing I've done is in MD3D (hard shadows), rest is just coloring and light. I've rendered at 9600x5400 and saved jpg 1:5 at 1920x1080. Would I benefit from higher res renders?

Another question - can I realistically tweak areas of this scene without turning it into mush? Or would it be better to expand on this in photoshop?

Nice find!

Image editing will always give you the most out of enhancing any fractal - but many fractal artists frown upon the practice  (I swear by it for finalizing a piece of Art - which is distinctly different from a piece of Fractal Art)  (Just plain "Art" is much more open to any image tweaking, editing, or altering you want, but many people feel Fractal Art should have only minimal post work - if any).

That said, have you tried different light sets?

Are you using point lights?  They can help highlight specific features of any fractal in M3D, and I think hard shadows can be calculated for each point light individually for better effect.

Good luck refining it and do post your results   afro

Thanks!

In the above, I've added 5 point lights. One for each outer cave entrance on the far left/right, one for the tribal mask, one at the top of the temple painting, and one below the feet of the caveman. I've also added hardshadows for the main global light, and point light on the tribal mask. I was trying not to over-engineer it.

I'm still not set on the colours, though I guess the clay colour fits in well with the setting.

Thanks for the input!
