Thank you for welcoming me! I want to use the best program. I don't know many things about fractals. So, any advice will be very useful to me. I've played with some free ones, but I want to go further.  wink

2D or 3D?

Ath the moment best free 2D is Chaos Pro, what is clone of comercial and better (in 2D) Ultra Fractal. (Don't forget to download all the formulas especialy EM.ucl and EM.ufm) Alsou jwildfire looks pretty cool, and are free, throught it would require uneasy java instal.

Best 3D is all free, say Mandelbulb3D. You can download it in fractalforums.

It's depend on how good you are with software. 2D don't have lights, reflections or raysteps. And Ultra Fractal have realy easy interface with visualisation of every coeffitient you can change. Throught it is comercial. 3D looks more realistic, but goes with less user friendly interface and more parameters.

so, hello and welcome to the forums

surely ultrafractal is commercial, but its free-mode is one of the kindest i know, because the only thing you have to pay for is the export for big images, so learning stuff and experimenting is really the best choice to get a grasp on what is going on ...


you might take a look at news #4 from this channel to get an idea
, not really an introduction, more or less an overview about current techniques, but its from me, and i need to promote:
