Somewhere in mandelbrot's fractal geometry of nature, he says that manufactured systems like silicon chips have fractal geometries. I am looking for work on power laws and self-similarity for such manufactured not organically growing systems as we are working on power laws and building heights etc in cities which are manufactured and rarely grow in the sense of natural systems. Anyone know of any work, papers etc on power laws and manufactured systems?

thanks
